Symptoms and Risk Factor
UTI is 40 to 50% amongst females while in males it is 0.04%.
Risk factors :
1)females are more prone to UTI as compared to males because the length of urethra is approximate 4 cm in females while it is 20 cm in males so females have a short urethra than males.
2)females urethra is in close relation to vagina and anus so chances of cross infection from vaginal discharge are possible .
3)sexually active females
4) pregnant woman
6)diabetic woman’s or any woman whose immunity is low are prone for UTI .
7)patients who have multiple normal vaginal deliveries which results in weakness of pelvic floor muscles so they get problems like passage of urine on coughing etc.
SYMPTOMS OF UTI :
1)Pain while passing urine
2)burning sensation while passing urine
3)increased frequency of passing urine
4)bloodstain urine or cloudy urine
5) lower abdominal pain, backache
7) fever up to 103 -104degree F
8) fungal infections of private parts
Investigations required are urine routine microscope in patients with recurrent UTIs required urine culture sensitivity to find out which antibiotics the bacteria are sensitive sonography to rule out renal calculus or stone.
